November 29th!

Guten Tag!

This whole post will be about the events of November 29th- an extremely busy day for us. We started things off with a move!!! We were finally able to leave the University Guest House! Here is Eric waiting for our 2 taxis to arrive:

Our taxis came and were very unhappy about hauling our stuff, even though there was plenty of room for everything and they didn't even help. They dropped us and our stuff along the side of the road at our new place. It was many trips up- 104 stairs to our front door. Eric did most of the hauling while I guarded and tried to move things out of the rain. Here is a snapshot I took of Eric making a trip. Can you find him??

He is easier to find in this one.

Here is our apartment from the street. It is definitely not the most beautiful architecture but still a vast upgrade from the guest house.

We were all moved in by late afternoon. Here are pictures of the New Apartment!

Daytime view outside the bedroom window.

Our great view of the castle!

Our great view of 'Chevy's American Diner'.

After we moved in we enjoyed having internet!!! It has been 3 long months of unreliable connection so having Wi-Fi again is a real luxury. Then it was time to head off to the medieval Christmas music concert our friend invited us to. Super ironically the concert was located right next to the guest house- where we had just moved from.

The concert was three guys playing traditional instruments and singing. They explained many of their songs but since it was in German we did not really understand.

After the concert I took this picture of their instrument basket.

We bought the CD!

After the concert it was time for 'Marburg by Night'. Basically they decorate the old town in Christmas lights and all the businesses stay open until midnight. It is also a kick off for the Marburg Christmas market.

Here I am drinking the infamous Glühwein! This is spiced wine with alcohol. Lots of stands were selling it. There is a 2 Euro deposit on the mug but we decided to keep ours.

Here are Christmas Market pictures.

We took a break and got a snack in a bakery.

More pictures of Eric eating! Here he is getting mushrooms.

Here is a picture of our 4 mugs we acquired. The white and green one is actually from last year- we decided to keep it so that you could see that this year and last year were equally ugly.

Auf Wiedersehen!
