Stuttgart Part 1

Our friends the Grözingers invited us down for a Stuttgart weekend.
We arrived late Thursday night and Elke had a Swabian feast waiting for us!!
It was a welcome relief from train station dinner.

The next morning we had another feast waiting for us!

My favorite was this delicious plum cake Elke made.

Hallo Felix!

Before we went out for the day we made a quick errand to buy flour.
However, buying flour with Elke means going to a real working mill!
She knows the owners and was able to give us a behind the scenes tour.

A short train ride later we were in Stuttgart.

Elke took us to this wonderful indoor market.

We bought lots of delicious things for lunch, including the heart cookie!

We ate it outside in the sun, next to the fountain.

Pigeons in the fountain!

Elke took us to a Stuttgart government building where they have this weird constantly moving elevator you jump in and out of. This is just another example of things that would never be allowed in the US for safety reasons.

Coffee break!

Yellow tram to take us up the hill.

The tram took us to a nice scenic viewpoint overlooking Stuttgart.

After a quick lunch break it was time to take the older more charming train.

This tram also took us to the top of a hill where there is a large cemetery.
We walked around and enjoyed the nice weather.

We took the tram back down and walked back home through this large park.
This park used to be the castle gardens.

For dinner I got this dish that was 3/4 meat, I think I am still recovering.

No Kleinsachsenheim trip is complete without visiting Alissa's gerbils.

An excellent first day with the Grözingers!
