Skipping Christmas - Day 2

At Sea

Since we discovered room service we started the day off with it! We had a nice light mini breakfast delivered bright and early so that we would not have to play tennis on an empty stomach.

The tennis court is situated at the very top of the boat overlooking the water on 3 sides. It was very nice and relaxing. The boat is pretty quiet outside at 8am which was nice, it is hard to find places on the boat where there are no people. While we were playing we got to see the boat approach the volcanic island of Stromboli! We passed pretty close to the island so it was pretty neat to see. After we finished playing tennis it was shower time and off to second breakfast on the deck (with Stromboli in the background).

Each day the cruise puts out a detailed flyer with all the activities for the day, any special meal events that are happening and information to know in general. Day two was hosting a shuffleboard tournament so we eagerly went to the deck for that. It was fun but we were eliminated in the first round. (It really only took 15 minutes, this is part of the reason why I did not get any pictures). This was disappointing because I didn't think our real talent got a chance to shine through. We had just eaten a large second breakfast but it was time for the special lunch event featuring bratwurst, sauerkraut and an Oompah band! I was very much against going to this lunch but Eric was very excited. So he ate pretzels and beer and I snagged some pasta they were grilling next to the pool.

We were super full and had some down time in the library reading and researching about Olympia, Greece. The on board library has a nice selection of guide books which was super helpful since we couldn't use the internet. I took this picture when we first got on board- it was very busy for most of the cruise, unlike the photo shows.

At this point the boat was passing in between Italy and Sicily. It was fun to see the coasts on both sides and it was a beautiful sunny day. We also got to see some dolphins jumping!

In the evening we attended the Cha Cha dance class. It was pretty fun and really made us feel like we were getting the cruise experience. Overeating at the buffet, shuffle board and dancing lessons! For some reason we still needed more food so we grabbed a light dinner after dancing. Eric was still enamored with room service and ordered chocolate cake and milk to the room later that evening.
