Skipping Christmas Days 8 and 9

At Sea

Both days 8 and 9 were 'at sea'. We were far away from Rome and had to travel a fair distance to get back. Also during these two days there was a large storm which made being out on deck unappealing. The boat was rocking quite a bit and the wind was so strong at one point they closed down the top deck entirely. The storm also brought a bit of rain (our first of the trip) so as a result these two days were very low key. Low key was good after our intense site seeing. We went to one of the restaurants for breakfast- something we had been meaning to do.

I also did some more Zumba! This is the lounge where they held it. It was also the site of a line dancing class I dragged Eric to (he had fun!).

There was also a lot of reading and blog prepping that went on. While we were sitting here a Q and A session began with the captain and head engineer. This is something we normally would not have gone to but it actually was very interesting. We learned a lot of cool things about the boat and by the end of it we had put our books down and were paying full attention.

On the second day the extreme boat rocking started to get to me so I spent many hours reading in bed. I think it was affecting many people because it was a bit of a ghost ship when you walked around. There was an afternoon magic show we went to, and we also saw some really cool acrobats (think Cirque du Soleil) one evening. There was also a grand finale type show that was very cool and entertaining. This was followed by the special all chocolate dessert buffet!

Days at sea don't generate a lot of pictures but they were good days overall. It was nice to have the break from all the touristing and enjoy some of the amenities offered on the boat!
